Lendy Cowes week 2018 - Summary

19 Aug 2018 by Matt Grier

A week from coming off of the back of Lendy Cowes Week and it’s all go planning to get more disabled people on the water. But we want to say a huge well done to those who were on the water racing on an equal playing field and proving they can give the fleets good competition.

The results from some great sailors who where competing in Lendy Cowes Week;

- Alistair Barter – taking the podium 1st place overall in the Sonar fleet on Bertie.
- Steven Palmer and Laura Cammidge – 7th Overall in the Sonar class on Spare Part.
- Andrew Millband – 10th Overall in the Dragon class on Supremacy.
- Tom Abrey – 3rd Overall in the Etchells Class on Jolly Roger.

A huge well done to all and thanks for just being you all by just getting out there racing and enjoying the sport which is removing barriers.

Well done from all at the Andrew Cassell Foundation.

Also a huge thank you to Kevin and their Youth team on Josh from Shoreham for teaming up and their support of the foundation and competition during the event.

Feedback from Laura Cammidge – It was great to be racing at my first ever Cowes Week with ACF Sailing and to be part of such a diverse Team, where everyone helped each other and it was fun, yet competitive at the same time. I learnt so much and am now far more confident in each of the roles I raced in, thanks to those I was racing with. The small things really do make the biggest difference!! Can’t wait to do more with ACF Sailing over the coming Winter and beyond, it makes for a nice, relaxed, and enjoyable Training Environment.
