Dear Sailors and Supporters,

Having just hosted our 4th and final weekend of the year which had everything from too much wind to sail to almost not enough at the end but it didn’t put the sailors off, the relaxed atmosphere with no pressure on land or at sea lead to a great environment for progression and removes the ego’s in the sport, yet still having enough competitiveness. We also had the great opportunity to have another individual who has competed with GBR Blind Sailing but the best part was getting her partner out for the first time to see what she did.

With Saturday blown off, due to top end wind strengths for us plus freezing temperatures, not to mention the pouring rain, we had a full day of communication discussions with rules and tactics, ending with a mock protest. Sunday followed with a super light winds and warmer weather, we had a warm up sail getting into teams and rotating places, then as the breeze built, 4 short, fun, close races followed.

It has been extremely busy year with lots of learning along the way for all, the achievement is recognised in the results from the weekends racing showing the overall active attendees, plus feedback and drive from the sailors to come back for more. The results can be found attached to this news article online or via the club website here http://www.ccyc.org.uk/race-results/4568631448

The support is growing all the time, from those watching and kind words mentioned but a special thanks goes to the club (Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club) who put on some great food on our arrival home thanks to clubs social team. Also the great background support in many ways, from the Bosun Ralph and team with logistics plus the full committee and staff who make the sailors feel so welcome. Also great to see the radio control Laser sailing team keeping the club active and joining us for food after sailing.

It’s been great to hear the feedback from everyone and we’re very grateful to the team and volunteers in the back ground.

With our gentle year to rebuild, we’ve achieved;
• 19 Individuals taking part in our mini training and racing opportunities from October to December this year.
• 31+ Individuals have attend ACF Sailing activity since February in some form.
• 56 people have signed up to our app/website so far, which are signed up to groups of;
o Sailors – 40
o Volunteers – 38 (which 31 are also Coaches / Skippers)
• 2 Sonar’s worth now committed to Lendy Cowes week 2019 already!

We’re just a little excited for 2019 but bear with us as we continue to progresses.
