ACF Sailing – Update 22-23rd February 2020

Dear Sailors and Supporters,

After a fantastic week of meeting and steps forward for ACF, writing last weekend report slipped us. But we can’t wait to tell you about some of it in the coming weeks.

On the weekend we had a tuff time with the breeze again but we managed to use our time well, where most yachting had be cancelled we just managed the weather and motioned the expected opportunity in the afternoon, knowing we could at least get a nice hour in.

Thus we started Saturday with some theory for our less experience sailors, instead of introducing the rules, it was more about learning the rules. So we decided to keep this fun again and play our new bar rules sailing board game which is also great for those with a lot more experience. This can be seen in the home made video thanks to Laura Cammidge of each move made this 30 second video actually took 3 hours of laughter, knowledge and learning.

Perfectly timed at 1330 on the Saturday the wind dropped off enabling us to get out on the water, The breeze was still a little high off of the front of Cowes but we just headed around to East and Osborne Bay, taking shelter off of the house spending a good hour with each individual having a go on the helm getting a great feel for the boat in the gusty conditions.

This could not have been a better way to safely get the feel for a boat in a great calm environment. We have to admit, we love the winter while the Solent is quite and everyone is hiding inside.

Sundays forecast looked similar, and a slight weather window did appear at the end of the day, but we worked so hard on the rules we bailed for the warmth of the club and a little rugby in the club house after which had a fantastic turn out at the club.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming sailing opportunities which are not to be missed! For all those hiding inside, you’re missing out.

If you would like to come and see or hear about what we are up too then please do get in touch via info@acfsailing.org as we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you all for your support.

Yours sincerely,

The ACF Sailing Team
