Dear ACF Sailors, Volunteers and Coaches,

Please find the following information from;
1. Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club regarding their policy. https://mailchi.mp/0387564cd98d/covid-19-policy-for-ccyc-as-at-17th-march-2020?e=8f76c127a3
2. East Cowes Sailing Club – all suspended.
3. Island Sailing Club – all postponed
4. RYA regarding their actions and advice. https://www.rya.org.uk/newsevents/news/Pages/rya-suspends-organised-activity-in-light-of-coronavirus-spread.aspx

Following this please follow the government guidelines. https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response

Along with the RYA Statement – Alistair Dickson, Director of Sport Development at the RYA, said: “While we have brought these measures in to adhere to government advice on limiting the spread of corona virus, it doesn’t mean that people can’t go sailing at all. In fact, getting out on the water can be a great way to look after your physical and mental health in these challenging times.”

We will endeavour to get sailors on the water in the future to support the physical and mental wellbeing of those around us, but for the time being, you can view all activity as postponed.

If by any chance we manage to get anybody out, we will be risk assessing greater than normal and very limited, monitoring the situation and those involved on a daily bases and following government guidelines.

We will still be available to contact if anybody just needs someone to talk too, and if we miss you, we will get back to you ASAP. We will be aiming to carry on all efforts to get back off of the ground once this all passes so we will need all of the help we can get as funding will be our biggest barrier.

We will keep you posted the best we can and will endeavour to not let this beat us by focusing on the future and the needs of the individuals we support.

Kind regards,

The ACF Sailing Team
