25 Years of ACF

19 Jul 2021 by Matt Grier

25 Years today, this Local and National Legend, along with amazing support locally was preparing to go to the 1996 Atlanta Paralmypic Games, on the 19th July 1996 (earliest recorded date found) there was so much support for Andy that a team of amazing volunteers set up the Andrew Cassell Foundation in his name, which he has kept going all these years. And also hit the young age of 79 only last Wednesday.

With the Covid pandemic regulations and keeping our sailors safe, with the support of the CCYC, we had a nice quiet bbq at the club and asked Andy to present some of our key volunteers who have helped get the charity going out of Covid with a gift.

Keeping quite from Andy we then followed by presenting and slipped the first word of 25 Years by presenting the CCYC with a thank you gift to thank them for being founding supports of Andy and the foundation.

Followed by the Commodore Mark Hart presenting Andy with a similar personalised version.

Huge thank you to @coweslaser for the awesome donation and creation of the gifts which Keith personally made out of original Oak Wood from Ryde Pier back from 1814.

Thank you all to everyone past and present who have volunteered and sailed with ACF. And a special thanks to those who were supporting Andy to become this huge inspirational character to so many individuals.

Also a huge thank you to the business supporting us to keep these opportunities going.

Not to forget! Thank you Andy, there are not enough words to describe what you have done and continue to do for everyone!
