Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all

23 Dec 2021 by Matt Grier

A brief message of special thanks to all of our Sailors, Volunteers and Supporters.

This year has been a amazing year, with many new individuals on the water and have made many new friends.

Along with this we have taken onboard new volunteers and without their support we could not have achieved what we have today and the understanding you bring to supporting the aims of enabling and inclusion.

Also a huge thank you to our supporters whether a donor or trust, for supporting whether financially or in kind, plus the local community as we can’t express how much, small or large it all counts.

Our impact is thriving and we will continue to support a positive and supportive environment. One of the biggest impacts we made in 2021 has been by using the Sonar Class Keelboat that Andy Won his Paralympic Gold in as our tool, which supports many from completely new to sailing and the most experience to compete at the most competitive levels or just learn to sail.

We have driven forwards the re-birth of the class with the aim of creating more opportunities for our sailors in the future as we believe in a growth mindset of developing individuals. With huge thanks to the support of Sussex Yacht Club and Cowes Week LTD, we held our Class Nationals during the 2021 event which sore 16 boats and a huge range of abilities of both disabled and abled, from novice to experience compete.

Individual legacies to make a difference pushes our ambitions, this has created growth and inspiration, from more boats being purchased, second hand and new, to the Nationals moving around the country, female mixed teams inspiring others and more boats expected to be competing in 2022 & 2023. All of these create goals and inspiration for future sailors and opportunities for us to keep driving inclusive and equality sailing.

All dates for 2022 have been published and the processes for Cowes Week and the Class Nationals will be confirmed by the end of January so please get RSVP’ing in the app to help us plan.

If you reading this and would like to get involved as a Sailor or Volunteer then the event summary can be found on our website www.acfsailing.org under events and you can find out there how to log into our Teamapp for further detail dates and RSVP’s.

As always we could not do what we do without the support of the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club who are always supportive of us creating activity and always welcoming.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Your sincerely,

The ACF Sailing Team.
