Updated – 2nd December 2019 – Notice of Race attached to the event
Dear all,
We had so much fun on Boxing Day last year that we plan to do it all over again and you can help us raise some much needed funds just by coming to play. We’re hoping for good weather again so we all want to come back year on year.
Summary notes for the Competitors:-
There will be a prize for the best crew’s fancy dress. The crews are to sail past the CCYC Marina Hammerhead between 1030 and 1040 so that they can be judged.
First race warning signal will be at 1045 as per the NOR.
After the completion of the Scramble there will be prize-giving in the Clubhouse. Along with mulled wine and mince pies and a charity auction with all proceeds going to the Andrew Cassell Foundation.
ACF Sailing will be creating some sailing opportunities on our Sonars for those without boats in the water with a suggested minimum donation of £25 per person upwards which will go towards getting more disabled people out racing throughout 2020. All sailing abilities welcome but places depending on the sailing ability/levels of others.
Please contact
info@acfsailing.org for further information.
25 places are available and a further 15 can be opened up if enough demand. (Numbers based on 5 people per boat).
- More detailed info below,
Thank you all, for your support of the foundation and taking an interest even if you cannot make the event or not interested in sailing but still come for the auction. To make a little extra funds we have created the spaces and are asking for a minimum of £25 (per person) or above. These need to be paid in advance on the app, and you will be emailed a receipt directly, if paying for an individual £25 (per person) or £125 (for a boat) to confirm a place please do so via the app. For alternative methods of payments then please make contact.
If considering but yet unable to confirm please RSVP Maybe so we can do our best to plan ahead.
Obviously you can still donate even if you don’t want to sail. Every bit goes towards getting more disabled people sailing. If you would like to donate in another method please do let us know via
info@acfsailing.org or use our donate link.
Confirmation of a place and refunds;- Please note that due to managing sailing abilities, final confirmation of your place/boat will only be confirmed once you have completed your payment and confirmed your sailing experience (not needed if you have already sailed with us) by emailing with a brief description
info@acfsailing.org and an email will be sent to confirm your place or request further information.
Individuals – Please don’t shy off if you only have limited sailing experience, we will endeavour to make sure you are in a boat with support.
Whole boats – Please note we will still need confirmation of all parties involved and registered on our ACF Sailing app (for our insurance). We may have to ask you to pay a retainer for a damage deposit – TBC.
Additional boats available – with early sign up it means we can try and help arrange extra boats if needed – These come with logistical challenges for us, thus if signing up after the 15th December we will increase the fee to £35 (per person).
If over sold, cancelled for reasons related to ACF or we feel we have too many novices and not enough experience to support then you will be contact and full refunds will be given (This does not include due to the weather or the club cancelling the event). No refunds will be given after the 15th December 2019 unless related to the above.
Further info for on the day
It will be a team effort to get the boats in and out of the water; it will be smooth if all look out for each other, if individuals can get down earlier to help that would be useful.
– You can expect Matt and the ACF team to do a lot of asking / directing. This is to make sure all are safe.
If any urgent problems in the morning arise then please call
07773773320 or text, if you are not answered it is because it is unsafe to do so and your call/message will be returned asap. – the best way for quick questions is via the app event comments as all attending will get alerts of your comment.
Entry – We will be entering the boats as they fill up, if you’d like to contribute to this then please do let me know.

Timings;
0945 – Changed and ready to launch the boats – it will be busy, cold and possibly slippery on the hard or pontoons but achievable so please all turn up on time and walk around with care.
Aiming to sail asap after launching.
1030-1040 – Sail past the hammerhead – especially if in fancy dress.
1045 start off the CCYC line – NOR’s & SI’s are attached to the event here
https://acfsailing.teamapp.com/events/9473549Clothing; – please bring;
- Warm clothing and a change in case you get wet (we are a dry ish boat though), temperatures are up and down and could be very cold, thus warmer clothes for after are a good idea.
- Your own sailing kit.
- Your own life jacket or buoyancy aid (these must be worn on the Sonar’s especially at this time of year) -I have some limited size buoyancy aids to loan if needed but must know in advance due to they are stored off site.
- Fancy dress is optional as per the NOR.
- Boats must be left clean and tidy (otherwise it defeats the point in us doing this).
Any questions regarding the day, please ask in the comment function in the event to kept in the loop or email
info@acfsailing.org or direct use the event chat to contact Matt or call
07773773320 to chat things through.
Otherwise we look forward to seeing you all at the club on Boxing day morning whether afloat or ashore.
Kind regards,
Matt and the ACF Sailing Team
